What is the Veteran's Tax Package?
The Veteran's Tax Package, if you qualify, is a calculation that allows the taxpayer to receive an additional tax refund on amended returns with both the Internal Revenue and State taxing authorities.
How do I know if I qualify?
If you have a disability rating that has been confirmed by letter from the Veteran's Administration and/or receive Retired Military Pay from any branch in the military and pay taxes each year due to a high tax liability you more than likely qualify. This process is known as the Net Disability Exclusion per the Internal Revenue Code 1.122-1.
How long does it take for processing?
Processing time takes between 8-12 weeks, sometimes longer if certain conditions exist. This processing time begins after the signing and mailing of the amended returns.
What do I need to bring with me when I am scheduled for an appointment?
A copy of your tax returns for 2008, 2009 and 2010
A copy of your DD-214
A copy of your Retiree Account Statements from DFAS
A copy of your 1099R's for each year
A copy of your VA disability rating letter
What if I am divorced and my ex-spouse receives a portion of my military retirement pay?
Your ex-spouse is entitled to amend her/his tax returns for the amount of entitlement.
What if I am a Viet Nam veteran and served for only a short period of time due to my injuries in action?
You may bring in the supporting documents that you have for review, however,
there are unique situations in this regard.

What does it cost and how is payment made for the services?
The fees are reasonable and consistent with standard tax preparer rates for amended returns. Payment is generally made by check and/or ATM, Credit Card at the time of service.
